Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will hold free tutor training workshops in September and October for residents who want to help adults communicate in English. Both workshops are open for registration.
The September workshop will be held from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, September 14, 16, 21, and 23 at the St. Charles Public Library. The October workshop will be held from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 13, 15, 20, and 22 at the St. Charles Public Library.
Each workshop will cover methods used to teach adults English while discussing the problems they face when they are unfamiliar with American culture.

Workshop graduates will be matched with one adult student. You will meet for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient. Most volunteer tutors meet with their students at the St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, or Town & Country Public Library. Other meeting locations are also available.
Volunteers do not need to know a second language or have a background in education to help. Adult students say that the best tutors are patient, are good listeners, and give practical information.
