Literacy Volunteers Needed

Training set for October 3

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley is seeking volunteers to help Tri-City adults learn English. Currently, 20 adults are waiting to learn. They are originally from Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, Greece, India, Iran, Iraq, and Mexico.

The program provides material and training so that anyone can be a tutor. The next tutor training workshop will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 3, 5, 10, and 12 at the St. Charles Public Library.

Volunteers say that there are benefits to being a tutor. You get to learn about other cultures, look at the world from a different point of view, and literally change a life.
