Literacy Volunteers Needed

Tutor training starts January 22

If you have resolved to volunteer in 2018, you will want to attend Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley's tutor training workshop, which will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, January 22, 24, 29, and 31 at the St. Charles Public Library.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults learn English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors one to one. Most of these adults have come from other countries to live in safety, send their children to good schools, and contribute to our economic well-being. With a little help, they can be more productive members of our community.

Trained volunteers meet with adult students for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient. From week to week, tutors see their students become more comfortable and fluent in English, which makes a big difference in their lives. Tutors get guidance and support whenever they need it from program staff.
