Local Illinois State Music Teachers Association February Meeting

Advanced-Level Piano Master Class with Heidi Mayer


Aurora, IL — The Waubonsee Valley Illinois State Music Teachers Association’s monthly program will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14th at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Dr., Aurora, and features clinician Heidi Mayer in an Advanced-Level Piano Master Class.

Heidi Mayer, NCTM, holds Bachelor Degrees from the University of Michigan in Piano Performance and Choral Music Education, and a Master of Musical Arts from Eastern Michigan University in Piano Performance. She was a faculty member of De Paul University’s Community Music Program from 1990-1993, and currently teaches at Northwestern Music Academy. She also maintains a thriving independent piano studio in Park Ridge.

Ms. Mayer was named Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Music Teachers Association in 2015. She was also the recipient of an MTNA Teacher Enrichment Grant and National Piano Technician’s Guild Teacher of the Year Grant.

Ms. Mayer has performed in master classes of Dorothy Taubman, Dmitry Paperno, John Browning, and Joseph Banowetz. Past teachers include Charles Fischer, Joseph Gurt, Edna Golandsky, Flavio Varani, Hans Graf, Robert Schollum, and Annie Sherter. She has traversed the keyboard concerto repertoire with her harpsichord ensemble, La Musique Nomade. She is an active collaborative pianist, clinician, and adjudicator in the Chicago area.
