WASCO, IL — Chicago-area restaurants are among some of the businesses hardest hit right now, but still, many are looking for ways they can help their communities as many struggle and face challenging work conditions during the new coronavirus outbreak. Taylor Street Pizza, 40 W. 301 IL-64 in Wasco, is among those businesses.

David Cotter, owner of the Taylor Street Pizza, shared a post on the What’s Happening in St. Charles IL? Facebook last week urging anyone who is facing financial hardships to reach out so they could help feed “you and your family.”

So far, Cotter has had a couple families reach out to him via private message on Facebook. He has brought its pizza and pasta to families in St. Charles and Elburn, Cotter said.

The restaurant also plans too bring pizza to the eemergency room personnel at Delnor Hospital in Geneva on Wednesday. Cotter says any truckers who drive past the business on Route 64 are urged to stop in for a free slice of pie.

Cotter said he sees the good donations as a way to give back to the local communities during this time of need and a fair trade off since so many have suported his restaurant since he took it over in 2008.

"Its been a good marriage," he said.

Taylor Street Pizza remains open for curbside pickup and delivery and is also has take-and-bake take-home pizzas available. Those needing help or a meal can contact Cotter by sending him a private message on Facebook or by calling his business at 630-587-0123.
