Longtime Local Pastor Dies at 71

A longtime local pastor, Larry Hilkemann, died Saturday at Delnor Hospital in Geneva at the age of 71.

Hilkemann spent 45 years in ministry with the United Methodist Church, according to his obituary.

Hilkemann was an active pastor for 17 years at Geneva United Methodist Church and after his retirement, he served at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church as an associate in pastoral care ministries and also served at a Winfield church, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

He also served churches in Plato Center and Burlington, Arlington Heights and Naperville, according to his obituary.

A visitation for Hilkemann will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 12 at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. in Geneva. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Geneva United Methodist Church, 211 Hamilton St. in Geneva.
