Man Accused Of Groping Female Runner In St. Charles

Authorities are looking for the suspect who grabbed the 47-year-old woman near the 300 block of South Riverside Avenue Monday evening.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Police are looking for a man accused of grabbing a woman who was jogging along the Fox River in St. Charles Monday evening.

Authorities say the 47-year-old woman was running along the river near the 300 block of South Riverside Avenue, just south of the Illinois Street Bridge, at about 6:50 p.m. when an unknown male quickly approached her from behind. She'd been running with a group but they were ahead of her when the male put his arms around her shoulders and grabbed her chest and abdomen, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

She screamed at the suspect who then fled west across the pedestrian bridge near Indiana Street and was last seen running north on 1st Street toward Illinois Street.

The offender is described as a male who is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall. His race and age is not known, according to authorities. He was last seen wearing a grey or dark camouflage winter coat and dark pants.

The St. Charles Police Department officers and detectives are actively investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to call the St. Charles Police Department at 630-377-4435.
