Man Denies Driving Car In DUI Crash: Police
The St. Charles Township man is accused of driving drunk and fleeing the scene of a crash earlier this month in St. Charles Township.
ST. CHARLES, IL — A 54-year-old St. Charles Township man faces an aggravated driving under the influence charge for allegations he caused a crash, fled the scene and then denied to police that he ever drove his crashed vehicle.
The Kane County Chronicle is reporting Judson J. Niles, of the 6N700 block of Tuscola Avenue in St. Charles Township, was taken into custody after his 2014 Ford Transit van was found damaged at about 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 11 at Park and Essex avenues. Authorities identified Niles as the owner of the vehicle.
Niles was located a short time later — after he told a woman living in the neighborhood he'd been in a crash. He told authorities he'd only had a sip of vodka but had not been driving that day, according to the Kane County Chronicle. The person who'd been driving, he told police, also fled the scene.
