Man 'Doing Doughnuts' In Sheriff's Office Lot Faces DUI Charge

He allegedly crashed his car right outside the entrance to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

ST. CHARLES, IL – Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies did not have to travel far to make a DUI arrest last month after a 28-year-old St. Charles man was spotted “doing doughnuts” in the sheriff’s office parking lot before crashing into a snowbank right outside the agency’s front doors, authorities said. Carlos J. Romero-Alfaro, 28, of the 600 block of 11th Avenue in St. Charles, has been cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving in connection with the Jan. 23 incident. He also faces one count of aggravated driving under the influence for allegedly not getting out of his car, even after authorities told him he was under arrest at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 23, Lt. Patrick Gengler, spokesman for the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, told Patch in an e-mail response.

An Illinois State Trooper, who was bringing an arrestee to jail at the time, had to come assist Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies in helping to pull Romero-Alfaro from the car, Gengler said.

Authorities also noticed Romero-Alfaro was holding a can of Milwaukee’s Best Ice between his legs when they initially approached his 2009 gray Subaru Legacy, the Kane County Chronicle reports. He also allegedly threw another can out of his window.
