Woman Charged With Murder, Running Boyfriend Over: Authorities

The Plainfield man was found dead in the Pheasant Run Resort parking lot in St. Charles.

ST. CHARLES, IL -- A 56-year-old River Grove woman is accused of using her boyfriend’s vehicle to run him over in the Pheasant Run Resort parking lot in St. Charles last week, authories said. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the man, Earl K. Hagen, 61, of Plainfield, dead with tire marks and bruising across his chest, the Daily Herald reports. On Sunday, Kathleen Vulpitta, 56, of River Grove, appeared in DuPage County court where her bail was set at $2 million.

Vulpitta is charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hagen’s death, according to the Daily Herald. The couple was staying at the St. Charles resorts at the time of the incident.

Hagen was located in the lot at 4051 E. Main Street at 9:20 p.m., according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department. When police and fire crews arrived at the scene, Hagen was already dead, authorities said.
