Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Kane Co. Bomb Threats
Akiel W. Davis entered guilty pleas Friday in Kane County and was sentenced.
A 22-year-old Carpentersville man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for making bomb threats against Kane County courts facilities last year.
Akiel W. Davis, of the 100 block of Adobe Court in Carpentersville, entered a guilty plea Friday to unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary and two counts of disorderly conduct, according to a Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office press release.
Davis is accused of calling 911 on Sept. 4, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. and stating that four bombs were concealed in the Kane County Judicial Center. He is also accused of calling the Kane County Circuit Court Clerk and stating that many people in Kane County would die, according to the news release.

The judicial center was evacuated for several hours following the threat, which ended up to be false.
Davis is also accused of stealing items from outside a business on Route 31 in St. Charles Township on March 28, 2013, and stealing a running, but unoccupied, 1997 Mercury Villager minivan from outside an apartment parking lot on Aug. 23, 2013, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney.

Davis was on probation at the time of the 2013 offenses for a October 2012 aggravated battery conviction.
