If you would like to help an adult communicate in English, you will want to attend Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley’s free tutor training workshop. It will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 6, 8, 13, and 15 at the St. Charles Public Library.

Hundreds of adults want to read, write, speak, and understand English so they can be better workers, more involved parents, and engaged residents. The workshop will cover the techniques used to teach adults English while discussing the issues adults face when they are unfamiliar with American culture.

Volunteers do not need to know a second language or have teaching experience to be effective. The workshop provides material and instruction so anyone can help.

Each volunteer will be matched with one adult learner. Volunteer tutors and their learners meet for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient.

To register for the workshop, visit www.lvfv.org or call/text 630-584-4428.
