No One Injured After Boat Capsizes On Fox River Over Weekend

The lone occupant of the boat was able to get himself and the boat back to shore by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

ST. CHARLES, IL – No one was injured after a boat capsized on the Fox River near St. Charles on Saturday, local fire officials announced.

Firefighters were called to the scene on the river just north of Pottawatomie Park at 3:59 p.m. after reports were made that a boat had capsized, the St. Charles Fire Department announced in a news release.

The victim, who told fire officials he was the only occupant on the boat, was able to get himself safely to the shore, located behind a house at 966 N. Second Street. According to the news release, the boat was also at the shoreline when firefighters arrived.

The victim refused further medical attention after he was evaluated at the scene, officials said. A St. Charles boat helped to get the victim and his boat back to the Boy Scout boat launch, according to the release. Firefighters from Geneva and Elgin assisted at the scene.
