No One Injured in St. Charles Garage Fire

Authorities believe that the improper disposal of ashes because the blaze.

No one was injured in a garage fire Sunday afternoon in St. Charles, fire officials said. The blaze broke out at about 2:22 p.m. in the 1800 block of Cambridge Drive. The homeowner had extinguished most of the fire by the time firefighters arrived and firefighters put out the rest when they got to the scene, according to a press release from the St. Charles Fire Department.

There were three people inside the house at the time of the small fire in the attached garage. All three were checked by paramedics but did not need to go to a hospital for treatment, fire officials said.

Authorities believe improper disposal of ashes from a fireplace caused the blaze.

The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to a vehicle in the garage, its contents and damage to the garage itself and its contents.
