From Norris Center:Looking to get fit in the New Year? Jump-start your resolution by attending the John B. Norris Recreation Center Open House from 9am-12pm Saturday, December 1. All ages are welcome to experience first-hand how Norris can help every member of the family meet their fitness and recreational goals. “The open house brings awareness to Norris and all the recreational opportunities offered within our building,” said Ande Masoncup, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation. Start with a tour of the 6,300-square-foot fitness center stocked with equipment to get your heart pumping such as treadmills, ellipticals, free weights and more. Then make your way to the cycling studio, indoor tennis courts, 50-meter indoor pool and child care center. Along the way, try a 25-minute fitness class or participate in a tennis drill.
Personal trainers also will be on hand to test your blood pressure, perform a flexibility check, demonstrate how to use exercise equipment and answer questions. Before you leave don’t forget to enter for a chance to win several prizes including: a one-month free membership; 50 percent off junior tennis program; free personal training session; and passes to Pottawatomie Golf Course. If you like what you see during the open house, sign up for an annual Norris membership and receive $25 off. The discount is only available in-person the day of the open house, and must be a one-year, paid-in-full membership for an individual, couple or family. Norris memberships are not available to purchase online. Membership includes use of the fitness center, minigym and cycling studio; pool during lap/open swim; and the sauna and whirlpool. All studio group fitness classes also are free to members. If you have young children, there’s no need to hire a babysitter while you work out. Membership includes free child care, up to three children. Members also enjoy discounts on personal training, water fitness classes, tennis programs and tennis court fees. Don’t miss out on the discount, as January begins the next session of tennis lessons for all ages, starting as young as 4 years old.
“With so many recreational possibilities, Norris makes it easy to not just add fitness programs into your life but to maintain a healthy lifestyle all year-round,” Masoncup said. Norris Recreation Center is located at 1050 Dunham Road in St. Charles. For more information about the open house, call Ande Masoncup at 630-677-0303.
