North High School Jazz Group Earns National Award
It's the St. Charles North High School Vocal Jazz Workshop's second such award in two years.
The St. Charles North High School Vocal Jazz Workshop has been named High School Winner in the Vocal Jazz Group category of DownBeat Magazine’s annual Student Music Awards, St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 announced on its website.
The award is the school’s second consecutive win in the contest. According to the district, each December, DownBeat Magazine solicits entries for its annual Student Music Awards, and music educators submit recordings of student soloists and/or ensembles for consideration among 16 categories.
The recordings are judged by an independent panel of music professionals, and the magazine announces the winners in its June issue.

The three songs submitted for the North High School Vocal Jazz Workshop were from a concert it performed in December.
