Woman Died in Crash Into Creek While Getting Doughnuts for her 3 Kids on Her Birthday

The cause of the woman's death remains under investigation.

ELGIN, IL - The 31-year-old Elgin woman who died Monday morning when her SUV crashed into a creek was on her way to pick up doughnuts for her three children on her birthday, the Daily Herald reports.

Erika Galvan was driving on Garden Crescent Drive near Tivoli Place when her SUV left the roadway and ended up in Tyler Creek. She lived right around the corner from where the crash took place, according to the article.

Emergency personnel responded to the area at 7:37 a.m., according to an Elgin Police Department press release. Galvan was found dead inside the SUV.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Kane County Coroner’s Office and Elgin police and fire departments. An autopsy was performed on Monday and is pending further investigation, according to a Kane County Coroner’s Office press release.. Toxicology samples were sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
