Park Palooza Planned for August
"Park Palooza is a one-stop-shop for all your fun, summer activities."
STC Parks: Take advantage of all Pottawatomie Park has to offer during Park Palooza, an end-of-summer, back-to-school bash held from 1-4pm on Sunday, August 18.
“Park Palooza is a one-stop-shop for all your fun, summer activities,” said Jen Bruggeman, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation. “Bring your family, friends and neighbors for an opportunity to celebrate and make lasting memories together before summer ends and the busy school year begins.”
Not only will there be free activities, live entertainment and specials for all ages, Bruggeman encourages families to enjoy all the recreational amenities in the park. Enjoy one last dip in Swanson Pool before it closes for the summer; a round of minigolf at River View; or a scenic cruise down the river on a paddlewheel riverboat. What’s more, during Park Palooza, the fee for these activities is only $1 per person.

Throughout the afternoon in the park, there will be games and demos for all ages. All Star Sports and Hot Shots Sports will engage children in pick-up games and sports activities and a pickleball demonstration will take place between 2-3pm. Bags also will be set up for friendly competition.
At various stations, there will be face painting, crafts, a balloon artist and a self-directed scavenger hunt. Children can meet and greet characters including Ollie and June from Otter Cove Aquatic Center, jump in a bounce house and more.

Additionally, all ages can move and grove to live music. Catch children’s entertainer Miss Jamie’s Farm from 1:15-2pm and stay for the cover band, One Night Band, from 2:45-3:45pm.
Refreshments will be available at the River View concession stand, and the first 100 guests who check in to the event will receive free popcorn or ice cream at the concession stand.
And those over age 21 may enjoy beverages in the beer tent provided by Riverlands Brewing Company of St. Charles.
