Police Conduct Tobacco Compliance Checks at 33 St. Charles Businesses

All businesses were compliant and did not sell tobacco to a minor during the checks.

Citywide tobacco sales compliance inspections were conducted on Thursday, November 19, 2015 by members of the St. Charles Police Department, along with the assistance of two civilian “Special Agents”, both age 17.

The “Special Agents” were trained by department members in compliance inspection policies, procedures and operational safety measures and were closely supervised throughout the detail.

A total of 34 local businesses were scheduled for inspection, with 33 inspections completed.

One business had ceased operations prior to the inspection and no longer sells tobacco products. All businesses inspected were found to be in compliance and no illegal sales of tobacco products were observed.

Each business will receive a Congratulatory letter from Mayor Raymond Rogina, Liquor Commissioner for the City of St. Charles.

This inspection was the 1st of three inspections scheduled for the 2015 / 2016 Tobacco Grant period, a grant program provided for by the State of Illinois. St. Charles Police Department has participated in the tobacco education and grant program since its inception in 2006.
