Police: Some Kane County Roads are Impassable

Kane County Sheriff's Office officials said those who travel should prepare "to be stranded for an extended period of time."

Road conditions have deteriorated across portions of Kane County, said Kane County Sheriff Lt. Pat Gengler Sunday evening.

All roads west of Route 47 are “basically impassable” as of 6 p.m., Gengler said in an e-mail Sunday evening. The new bridge on Route 38 near the border of DuPage County is also impassable.

“Anyone traveling should be prepared to be stranded for an extended period of time,” Gengler wrote in an e-mail Sunday evening. ”We anticipate conditions getting to the point where we are not able to get to people who become stuck.”
