The adult and two children were brought to shore by rescue crews from the St. Charles Fire Department Monday afternoon.

ST. CHARLES, IL —Authorities in St. Charles responded to the Fox River after an adult and two children on board a paddle boat took shelter under a bridge in town during a storm Monday afternoon, fire officials said. The St. Charles Fire Department was first called to the area underneath the railroad trestle bridge by Salerno's Restaurant, 320 N. Second Street, at 4:41 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding the victims, which callers believed were trapped on a pylon along the Fox. When rescue crews arrived, they found the group standing on a pier and all had personal flotation devices on, according to a news release from the St. Charles Fire Department.

Neither the adult or children were in immediate distress, fire officials said.

Rescue personnel launched a boat from Boy Scout Island and returned all three to the shore at Pottawatomie Park. All three were examined by paramedics and no one was transported to the hospital for further treatment, according to the news release.
