
The fun will get underway Friday and continue through the weekend as Riverfest returns to St. Charles, marking the start of the summer season for the city.
There will be family-friendly entertainment on the beach, in the water and on the stage during the four-day festival.
Here is a look at some of the key events taking place during the festival:

- 40-Ton Fantasy Sand Sculpture: You can watch a world-record holder create a “fantasy sand sculpture” over the weekend. There will also be a huge sandbox with toys for festival-goers to join in the fun and create their own sand sculptures.
- Dragon Boat Races: You can watch teams of 20 participate in the ancient sport of dragon boat racing. Races will take place 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Pottawatomie Park.
- Water Ski Show: Will kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday on the Fox River.
- Kane County Swat Team Demo: A demonstration will take place at 5 p.m. Friday on First Street.
- RiverView Carnival: Rides will be running Thursday through Sunday.
- Entertainment: There will be three days of free music at this year’s festival. Libido Funk Circus will perform at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Gregory Hyde will take the stage at 8 p.m. on Saturday and Focal Point will perform starting at 7 p.m. on Sunday. More musical acts are scheduled for throughout the festival.
