Roadwork Gets Underway at Route 31, Silver Glen Road Intersection in South Elgin

Road crews were expected to begin work on the intersection at Illinois 31 and Silver Glen Road in South Elgin on Wednesday, according to a Illinois Department of Transportation press release.

During the roadwork, lanes along Route 31 will be reduced to a narrower configuration. The scope of the project includes widening and resurfacing, storm sewer construction and new traffic signal installation at the intersection.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
