Kane Co. Coronavirus Cases Continue Downward Trend; 234 Deaths
There were 24 new cases Saturday and 25 on Sunday, the lowest single-day totals since April 13, according to public health data.
KANE COUNTY, IL — The average number of daily new coronavirus cases in Kane County has dropped for a third-straight week, according to public health data. Seventy people tested positive over the weekend, bringing the county’s total to 7,175 confirmed cases, the data shows.
Last week, the county recorded its lowest number of new cases since mid-April, and daily confirmed cases have continued to decrease. There were 24 new cases on June 13 and 25 on June 14, the lowest single-day totals since April 13, the data shows.

The 7-day rolling average of cases per day — a measure that takes into account daily fluctuations in testing to show longer-term trends — shows new cases have been decreasing steadily since May 26, when the figure stood at about 170 daily cases. As of Monday, the 7-day rolling average was 38 daily cases, the data shows.
Aurora residents account for 46 percent of all cases in Kane County, with 3,250, the data shows. More than 350 residents in Aurora’s other three counties — DuPage, Kendall and Will — have also tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the city’s statistics.

More than 1,700 Elgin residents have tested positive, as well as 698 in Carpentersville, 258 in South Elgin, 257 in St. Charles, 154 in Geneva and 106 in Batavia, the state’s data shows.
Illinois public health officials have confirmed 234 Kane County residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, as of Monday. Eight people died Thursday, the second largest single-day spike in deaths, the data shows.
Residents of long-term-care facilities in Kane County represent about 11 percent of all cases in the county, but more than 57 percent of all coronavirus-related deaths, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Thirty-three long-term-care facilities in the county have reported positive tests among residents and staff, and 18 have reported coronavirus-related deaths, the data shows.
