Special Foster Homes Needed!

These 3 souls are counting on you!

Every day Safe Haven Dog Rescue works with our partner shelters to find ways we can rescue dogs and puppies from these high kill areas. We know that we can’t save them all, but it breaks our hearts to leave any of them behind. This time it’s even harder because there are three special needs dogs that REALLY need our help. These dogs have been overlooked and have almost no chance where they are. We would love to rescue them and hope that by sharing their stories we can find them foster homes.

Canada is a 4 month old lab/aussie mix. She came to the shelter with a broken leg (you can see it in one of her pictures). She has undergone two surgeries to pin her leg back together. She has a good prognosis but will need a foster home to take her to the vet every two weeks until the pin can be removed. She is at the shelter in a small crate and is not getting the activity that she needs to heal her leg.

Stryker is a 65 pound Newfoundland mix that is a happy guy that loves people, dogs and cats. He doesn’t know it, but he has Heartworm or as we call it, HW+. These dogs are always left behind due to the cost of treatment. Safe Haven has a fantastic veterinary partner that allows us to provide treatment this treatment and save his life…but we need a foster home commitment. He is a wonderful boy and deserves a chance to be loved!

Alexis is about 10 years old and has arthritis. She spent the last 4 months at a shelter laying on the hard concrete floor making her condition even worse. She was recently moved to one of our foster homes in Alabama but needs a foster here in Illinois. Now that she is sleeping on a bed, she is doing so much better! This loving girl was someone’s loyal companion for 10 years and then they discarded her......we are committed to finding her a perfect home but first need a foster willing to give this quiet girl a place to rest.

These 3 loving souls have the chance to come to Illinois on Sunday 7/26…but we can’t bring them without willing fosters.

We pay for all vetting, food, toys, leash and collar for the foster dog or puppy. You provide love, socialization, and start the dog or puppy on basic training. An adoption coordinator is always available to discuss any challenges that you are facing. We want a successful experience for you and the dog in your care.

We also require that you have the ability to take your foster to routine veterinary visits at our participating vets. These vets are located in Wheaton, Naperville, and Elmhurst. Spay/Neuters are done in North Aurora.

If you are willing to help these deserving dogs by opening your home to foster, please email safehavendogs@yahoo.com , ASAP!

We would love to let the shelters know these pups will be going to rescue!
