St. Charles 7-Eleven Fined for Tobacco Violation

The business was fined during a March 21 Liquor Control Commission hearing.

ST. CHARLES, IL - A St. Charles 7-Eleven has been fined after failing a citywide tobacco inspection held in February, city officials said.

During a St. Charles Liquor Control Commission hearing on March 21, the 7-Eleven, at 1705 W. Main St., received a $250 fine and was ordered to pay $500 in court costs, according to a city of St. Charles press release. The business was cited for unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor during Feb. 22 compliance checks.

The St. Charles Police Department check 32 area businesses during the compliance check.

The inspections were conducted in a partnership with the Illinois Liquor Commission through a FY15-16 financial grant. The St. Charles Police Department has received this grant to conduct inspections since the program’s inception in 2004. The ultimate goal of the inspections is to reinforce compliance and educate tobacco retailers, according to the city's news release.
