St. Charles Alderman Ask for Price Tag on Riverfront Plan

The city is in the process of budgeting for 2016-17.

Sure, activities like white-water rafting, kayaking and an in-the-river children’s splash pad along the Fox River in St. Charles all sound like amazing amenities. But aldermen Monday night wanted to know just how much the Active River Task Force’s proposal, which has been in the works for two years, would cost, the Daily Herald reports.

Task force member John Rabchuk said a very rough estimate for the cost of the plan was between $15 and $20 million, according to the article. The city is budgeting for its next fiscal year and city Administrator Mark Koening has suggested finding a way to factor the river proposal into the city’s strategic plan, according to the Daily Herald.
