St. Charles Awards $700K To Expand Mental Health and Support Services

ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles City Council has approved $700,000 in funding for 21 nonprofit organizations that provide mental health, substance abuse and developmental disability services to city residents.

The funding recommendations were presented by the St. Charles Community 708 Mental Health Board and approved by the City Council during its July 6 meeting, according to a news release. The board reviews applications from local agencies each year and recommends how revenue from the city's dedicated mental health property tax should be distributed.

The City of St. Charles has levied a property tax to support community mental health services since 1986. According to the city, the board's mission is to fund high-quality, community-based programs that address mental health needs, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities for St. Charles residents.

The following organizations will receive funding for the 2026-27 fiscal year:

• Lazarus House — $45,906
• Casa Kane County — $32,584
• Living Well (Northwestern Medicine) — $19,071
• Tri-City Health Partnership — $18,946
• Fox Valley Hands of Hope — $18,643
• Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley — $18,432
• Elderday Center Inc. — $17,425
• Community Crisis Center — $14,089
• Fox Valley Special Recreation Association — $13,179
• NAMI KDK — $12,831
• Support Over Stigma — $11,000
