St. Charles City Council Approves Utility Rate Hike

ST. CHARLES, IL — The utility bill for the average St. Charles resident is expected to increase by $8 per month following rate hikes approved by the St. Charles City Council.

Rate adjustments were recently approved for the city's sewer and water service during a May 1 meeting, the Kane County Chronicle is reporting. A 6 percent hike was approved at the recent meeting and comes after the city approved a 12 percent increase to the water rate last year.

The city council approved the utility rate hike, which city staff said would amount to about $8 per month for the typical utility bill, in an 8-2 vote, according to the Kane County Chronicle.
