St. Charles Cyclist Dies at Bike MS Fundraiser

The cycling event took place over the weekend in DeKalb.

A St. Charles cyclist died over the weekend after he collapsed while riding in Bike MS: Tour de Farms 2015, which is a weekend-long biking event in DeKalb, the Daily Herald reports.

Ruhl was on the second day of the 150-mile ride and was riding closely with two of his 16 teammates when he lost consciousness and fell on Sunday, according to the article.

A cause of death was not immediately available. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday for Ruhl, according to the DeKalb Daily Chronicle.

Ruhl’s team, LoBaMa, collectively raised $9,350 for Bike MS, the newspaper reports.

“We appreciate all that Jeff did for people living with MS through his participation in Bike MS this weekend, as well as in previous years,” Holly Missick, president of the Illinois chapter, told the Daily Herald.
