The Minooka Indians routed St. Charles East’s Saints 14-3 in East Peoria on Saturday to claim the IHSA Class 4A Softball Championship, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The Saints, who were at 33-6, fell to the 23-8 Indians in just six innings in a game that saw Minooka set a new state record for the number of hits — 19 — in a state finals game, according to the Tribune.
East got off three runs early in the game, but the Indians changed pitchers, a move that ended the Saints’ ability to put anyone on base.
