St. Charles East Soccer Earns Second Place at State
The Saints earned a second-place finish in the state soccer tournament this past weekend.
The St. Charles East girls soccer team claimed a second place finish at the state tournament this past weekend.
The Saints fell to New Trier in the state finals, 1-0, after the Trevians got an early lead in their 11th consecutive shutout, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Following an early goal by New Trier's Sarah Connors, the Saints battled in the second quarter but were unable to put up a goal against the Trevians— a team "that allowed only 7 goals all seasons," according to the Daily Herald.
While there were some tears following Saturday's loss, Coach Paul Jennison told Suburban Life Publications he was proud of the team on their second-place finish.
"A lot of them knew they left it all out there. I couldn't ask for any more," Jennison told the Elgin Courier-News.
St. Charles East beat Lincoln Way North 1-3 in the semifinals before Saturday's championship game at North Central College in Naperville.
