St. Charles East Senior Nominated to National Team

St. Charles, Wheaton and Bartlett seniors are among 16 Illinois prep stars nominated for the 2013 McDonald's All American® Games. Tickets to the April 3 game go on sale Saturday.

Kendall Stephens, a senior at St. Charles East High School, is among 16 high school seniors who have been nominated to play in the April 3 “2013 McDonald’s All American® Games” in the United Center in Chicago, McDonald’s announced this week.

Other players from the area who were nominated to the team include Wheaton North High School senior Andrew Zelis of Wheaton, and Bartlett High School senior Lance Whitaker of Bartlett.

The 13 boys and three girls on the list are eligible to make the final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls who will be selected to play in the 2013 games, according to McDonald’s, which plans to announce the final team at 4 p.m. Feb. 14 during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show on ESPNU.

According to McDonald’s, the students were nominated by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.

McDonald’s said that more than 800 players from 39 states and the District of Columbia were nominated for the 2013 McDonald’s All American® Games, and that the complete list of nominees is available at www.mcdaag.com.

Tickets Available Saturday, Jan. 19

According to McDonald’s, ESPN’s top-100 list includes five boys and three girls from the Illinois nominations to the 2013 McDonald’s All American® Games. Those interested in watching the April 3 competition in the United Center can purchase tickets beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 through Ticketmaster or charge-by-phone at 1-866-909-GAME. Prices start at $10, and are available in a $53 family four-pack that includes four tickets, four soft drinks and four hot dogs.

The 36th annual boys game tips off at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 12th annual girls game tips off at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Both games will be at the United Center, and parking is free the night of the games, the McDonald’s release said.

Net proceeds from the games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities®. The games have raised more than $10 million for the endeavor since 1978.
