St. Charles East Top Geneva for Regional Baseball Title

The Fighting Saints defeated the Vikings 5-2 in 6½ innings Saturday morning in Geneva.

The St. Charles East Fighting Saints took an early lead and held on to defeat the Geneva Vikings 5-2 Saturday morning for the regional boys baseball title.

The Saints, the designated home team by season’s ranking, met Geneva on the Viking’s home field, taking an early 3-1 lead in the first inning. East advanced to 4-1 in the third, and grabbed another in the fifth, leaving Geneva with four scoreless innings in a row before entering the top of the seventh.

Geneva was able to gain one more run before the third out in the top half of the inning, leaving the Saints with the regional title.
