St. Charles Looks To Improve Walkability, Seeks Feedback
City officials are working to craft a bicycle and pedestrian plan, which would provide steps for improving walkability in town.
ST. CHARLES, IL — City officials are developing a bicycle and pedestrian plan that will cull feedback from the community and provide solutions for improving walkability in St. Charles.
“Making St. Charles more walkable and bicycle-friendly are consistent themes that come up when we ask residents what we can do to make St. Charles even better,” city administrator Heather McGuire said. “We are fortunate to have an active downtown and beautiful pathways along the river. Improving access by foot or bicycle to these amenities and to existing trail networks will only add to the vibrancy of our beautiful city.”
Meanwhile, the city is continuing to seek feedback from residents. Here are some ideas on how you can do that:

- Those interested in sounding off can visit a city website that includes an interactive bicycle and pedestrian plan map where you can pin your ideas. The map will be up through October.
- You can also provide feedback by visiting the bicycle plan table from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 7. The table will be near the information booth at the Scarecrow Festival in St. Charles.
- You can also fill out the contact form online to send a message or comment on the plan.
The city is working with Civiltech Engineering to gather input and develop the plan and the next public meeting is planned for Spring 2023.
