St. Charles Man Airlifted After Route 47 Collision
Two men were injured in the two-vehicle crash that happened at Route 47 and Kenmar Drive in Elburn Tuesday.
KANE COUNTY, IL — A 47-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a suburban hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Route 47 in Elburn Tuesday afternoon.
The man, who has been identified as Kendic Hasan, of the 8N100 of Phar Lap Drive in St. Charles, was driving a 2020 Mercedes Sprinter van south on Route 47 at about 1:50 p.m. when the van drifted into the northbound lanes of traffic, police said.
The van collided head on with a 2019 Ford F550 Super Duty truck that had a trailer and construction equipment, according to the news release.

Hasan was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford F550, who has been identified as Matthew Smith, 33, of Elburn, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the news release.

It is unknown if seatbelts were worn during the crash or if alcohol or drugs contributed to the cause of the collision, police said. No citations or arrests have been made in connection with the crash, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
