The show’s first season was released on Netflix on Feb. 19 and Witaske, a graduate of St. Charles High School, appears in several episodes as the best friend to the show’s main character, Gus, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Witaske moved from St. Charles to Los Angeles two years ago after he spent several years working at various comedy venues, including Second City in Chicago.
The show, which is created by Judd Apatow, Paul Rust, and Lesley Arfin and stars Gillian Jacobs and Rust, is not your typical romantic comedy and is lauded as an “honest look at love.”
The Daily Californian writes, “The reality of life bogs down both of the romantic leads in ’Love’ with an unmistakable weight. Mickey and Gus (Paul Rust) have real human baggage. They’re manipulative. They’re riddled with defense mechanisms. They’re as self-absorbed as they are self-defeating. They’re perfect for one another — or maybe they’re not.”
You can learn more about what how Witaske landed a role on the show and what else he has been up to in the past couple years in his Q&A with the Kane County Chronicle.
