St. Charles OKs Wine Drinking At Grocery Stores
Shoppers will also be able to drink beer and alcohol at stores that sell it following the update to St. Charles liquor code on Monday.

ST. CHARLES, IL -- Shoppers at the Blue Goose Market will soon be able to enjoy a glass of wine while picking up their groceries after St. Charles aldermen voted in favor of allowing the sale of alcohol for consumption at grocery stores Monday. The city’s liquor code was updated to allow the sale of wine, beer and spirits at all grocery stores in town, which can be drank at the site. The measure was approved 5-4 on Monday, the Daily Herald reports.
Blue Goose Market approached the city, requesting the update to the city's liquor code, as the grocery store plans to build a wine bar. Customers will be able to drink at the bar or carry their alcohol with them while they shop, according to the article.
The concept is nothing new in the suburbs as other communities have grocery stores, including Mariano's stores, selling alcohol that can be consumed onsite.
