St. Charles Police Suspend Several Programs
Meanwhile, the public safety services will remain intact amid concern a statewide stay at home order.
ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles Police Department will remain open and officers will be available to take reports over the phone and respond to emergencies. But many programs have been suspended amid concerns over the spread of the new coronavirus, including:
- Fingerprinting services
- Child safety seat checks
- Prescription drug disposal
- Building tours
- Ride-Along Program
- Citizen’s Police Academy
- Use of the Community Room
- Issuance of Solicitor Permits. All current Solicitor permits are temporarily suspended.
Meanwhile, anyone who needs the police department's help should continue to call 911. The police department is taking the following additional steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19:
- Depending on the nature of your call an officer may take your report over the phone rather than in person
- If you make a report with an officer at your home, the officer will likely request to speak with you outside rather than entering your home
- Our Police Department Lobby remains open but for essential business only
Residents are encouraged to use the police department's online services including Freedom of
Information requests and vacation watch requests.
