St. Charles Public Works To Host Open House May 2
The event at 1405 S. 7th Avenue will feature tours, demonstrations and family activities.
ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles Public Works Department will open its doors to the public on Saturday, May 2, offering residents a behind-the-scenes look at the services that keep the city operating.
The open house will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Facility, 1405 S. 7th Avenue. Residents of all ages are invited to attend and learn more about the department’s daily operations, including infrastructure maintenance, water and electric utilities, snow removal and wastewater treatment, according to a news release.
City staff will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions and provide insight into how public works services support community safety, health, and quality of life, according to the news release.

The event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including facility tours, a “Touch-a-Truck” display, an electric pole climbing demonstration, a wastewater laboratory and treatment plant tour, children’s activities and refreshments.
“This open house is a great way for residents to see firsthand the work our Public Works team does every day,” Public Works Director Peter Suhr said. “It’s also an opportunity for residents to connect with staff, ask questions and better understand how we maintain the city. We also hope to inspire future generations to take an interest in public service careers.”
