St. Charles Restaurant Evicted For $76K In Unpaid Rent

Corfu Restaurant will shut its doors by this Sunday.

ST. CHARLES, IL – A restaurant that has called St. Charles home for four decades will be closing this weekend after failing to pay over $76,000 in rent, the Daily Herald reports. Corfu Restaurant, which is owned by Golren Enterprises Inc., opened in 1980 and will shut its doors at 2520 E. Main Street for good by this Sunday. KFP Properties filed a suit in Kane County court to evict the restaurant from its building for unpaid rent of $76,667 plus interest, which a judge approved on July 11 according to the article.

Golden Enterprises also owes a contractor more than $191,000 for remodeling work done in 2015 – and that cost covers just the supplies and not the labor for the work, according to the article.
