St. Charles Solar Plant Featured on IL Solar Tour
The Illinois Solar Energy Association is hosting the tour, features more than 125 homes and businesses.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The city of St. Charles Solar Plant will be part of the 2019 Illinois Solar Tour, which will take place this weekend. The tour, coordinated by the Illinois Solar Energy Association, features more than 125 homes and businesses across Illinois where visitors can see solar installations in action, according to a news release.
Those interested in taking part in the tour can visit any site between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sept. 28. This event is free and open to the public.
The City of St. Charles Solar Plant is located at 850 Equity Drive, in the Legacy Business Park, just east of Kirk Road in St. Charles. Tom Bruhl, Electric Services Manager for the City of St. Charles will be at the site to give visitors a tour and answer questions.

“We’re proud to be selected as a host site and to be able to showcase our very successful solar plant,” said Bruhl. “We encourage anyone who is interested in solar take this opportunity to learn more about it.”
The St. Charles Solar Plant is a 500kW utility-scale plant that began commercial operation Sept. 1, 2017. The ground-mounted solar panel array includes 4,824 solar panels, on three acres, that produce approximately 668,000 kWh of energy annually, enough to offset the consumption of 76 average St. Charles residential customers.
