ST. CHARLES, IL — The Illinois Department of Agriculture is looking to revoke the license for the Perfect Pup in St. Charles over allegations the business unlawfully housed and sold dogs.

Under state law, the dog-dealing license for the Perfect Pup, 2400 E. Main Street, does not allow the business to sell dogs at retail locations, the Daily Herald is reporting. State inspectors visited the St. Charles business on Sept. 27 and saw the business did have pups for sale.

A new state law passed earlier this year also made it illegal for pet shops to sell dogs unless they got the pups from an animal shelter or animal control facility. The Perfect Pup got its dogs from breeders, according to the article.
