Street Closures for Riverfest Announced; Expect Delays in Downtown St. Charles This Weekend

There will be increased foot and vehicle traffic in downtown St. Charles this weekend.

Motorists should expect delays as Riverfest gets underway Friday.

There will be a significant increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and around the downtown area during this three-day festival.

Long traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel, according to a city of St. Charles press release.

The bulk of the traffic will be on Main Street in the downtown area from 7th Street to 7th Avenue.

Police Officers and Emergency Management personnel will assist traffic at key locations during peak festival hours.

There will also be numerous street and parking lot closures in the downtown area during the weekend.

The following roads will be closed due to the festivities:

  • Riverside Avenue will be closed between E. Main St (Rt. 64) and Illinois Avenue.
  • 1st Street will be closed between Main Street (Rt. 64) and Illinois Street.
  • Walnut Avenue will be closed between Riverside Avenue and South 2nd Avenue.
  • There will be parking restrictions on South 2nd Avenue, however the roadway will remain open.

Motorists who normally travel these streets are encouraged to find alternate routes of travel from 5 a.m. Friday thru midnight Sunday.

Several downtown streets and parking lots will have parking restrictions posted. Motorists are encouraged to check carefully for posted restrictions before parking.
