Suburban Wrestler, H.S. Senior Fatally Shot In Home Over The Weekend In Hampshire: Family

Deegan Kirschke, 17, died of a gunshot wound in a home in Hampshire. A 20-year-old man now faces charges in connection with the shooting.

HAMPSHIRE, IL — A Hampshire High School student and suburban wrestler is dead and a 20-year-old man faces charges in connection with a fatal shooting that happened over the weekend.

The family of Deegan Kirschke confirmed the 17-year-old boy was killed at a home in the 100 block of High Street in Hampshire, the Daily Herald is reporting. Kirschke was a wrestler for the St. Charles East Wrestling Club and was entering his senior year at Hampshire High School.

“He was just an overall good kid,” Jeff Folk, Kirschke's uncle, told the Daily Herald.

Charges have been filed against Keyshaun D. Davis, 20, in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the life or health of a child, reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without a FOID card.
