Team Polaris and St. Charles North to host “Project Dance Leap”

Team Polaris and St. Charles North will host "Project Dance Leap" on February 29, from 1:00-5:00 p.m., at St. Charles North High School

(St. Charles, IL) (February 11, 2020) – Team Polaris and St. Charles North will host “Project Dance Leap” on February 29, from 1:00-5:00 p.m., in the main gymnasium at St. Charles North High School. The four-hour dance party promotes awareness and raises funds for local organizations that provide services for individuals with special needs.

The entire community is invited to the safe and comfortable environment where accommodations are made for individuals with physical and sensory needs. There is no light show with music but instead, the music is put towards the floor to help with sensory overload. The venue and dance floor are also wheelchair accessible.

“Team Polaris’ goal is to encourage interactions in all school social events and beyond,” said Tanis Simoncelli, advisor of Team Polaris. Team Polaris is a social club at St. Charles North that works to promote social awareness and support for individuals with special needs in the school and the community.

St. Charles North acknowledges that the dance environment is difficult to sustain for some, and therefore a “chill room” will be available for individuals who need a break from being overstimulated.
