Too Many Car Wash Businesses In St. Charles?: City Reviews Proposal
Opponents to the proposed car wash on a former Chilis' site say six car washes in town is too many.
ST. CHARLES, IL — Opponents of a plan to raze a former Chili's restaurant on East Main Street to build a car wash say St. Charles does not need another automatic car wash business in town.
St. Charles resident John Norris wrote in a letter to the city that if the city council approves the proposal by Bolingbrook-based Jet Brite Crash Inc., the addition would be the third car wash location within less than a mile of two other car washes and the sixth car wash business in St. Charles, according to Shaw Media.
Other opponents include St. Charles-base Wickman Properties, which owns nearby office buildings, and the general manager of the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Both expressed concerns over how noise from the car wash could effect their businesses, according to the article.
