Traditional 'Apple Bee' Held At Durant-Peterson House This Weekend

The fall harvest fundraiser will run from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A traditional apple-bee will be held this weekend at the Durant-Peterson House in St. Charles.

The fall harvest fundraiser will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the Durant-Peterson House at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean Street in St. Charles. Tickets for the event are $35 and you must be over the age of 21 years old to attend.

Those stopping out can celebrate the fall harvest "with a traditional apple-bee" and enjoy food, drink, live folk music, traditional apple harvest activities and more.

Included in your admission will be: one drink ticket for your choice of wine or beer, heirloom apple sampling, historical demonstrations, outdoor activities to enjoy like apple peel reading and pumpkin tic tac toe, a competitive skittles tournament, live music from County Line String Band, a tour of the Durant-Peterson House Museum and unlimited water and apple cider.

On Sunday, the Heirloom Apple Fest will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Durant House.

During the event, those stopping out can learn all about apples popular during the 19th century and enjoy apples that you do not see in your local grocery store. Suggested donations are $3 for adults and $1 for kids.
