Traffic Delays Expected In St. Charles This Weekend

The Scarecrow Festival is getting underway and "significant" traffic delays are expected.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Drivers in St. Charles should expect traffic delays starting Friday afternoon and continuing through Sunday due to this weekend's Scarecrow Festival.

Scarecrow Fest will get underway at noon on Friday in St. Charles and will continue through 5 p.m. on Sunday. Those in St. Charles and those traveling through the city should expect "significant delays" near the downtown area over the weekend, according to a news release from the city of St. Charles.

The festival's location run from South Riverside Avenue on the east side north to Pottawatomie Park and then across the river to Lincoln Park, which is located at 4th and West Main streets.

Police and Emergency Management Agency personnel will be at key locations assisting pedestrians across the roadways, and drivers not intending to attend the festival are encouraged to avoid the downtown area either by using the Red Gate Bridge on the north end of the city or the Prairie Street Bridge south of downtown, according to the news release.
