- All young children should be accompanied by their parent(s), or another responsible adult
- If you are out after dark, be sure your group has a flashlight or attach reflective tape to costumes for additional safety measures. Glow sticks are also a safe light source for children to use and attach to their costumes.
- Please watch for traffic, and walk on the sidewalk and only cross at intersections.
- Always check costumes for proper fit, so that they don’t trip and can see clearly.
- Examine all candy before being consumed.
The Police Department is also asking motorists to take extra precautions and be more observant during this time period for children who may not be as alert for traffic. Residents are also encouraged to utilize outside lighting for the safety of trick or treaters.
Parents are also encouraged to lock and secure vehicles, garages, and houses to reduce the opportunity of theft and vandalism.
